30 Day Challenge - Day 1 & 2!

Hey everyone! I know I have been MIA for about a week. I had a huge weekend in the mountains of Tennessee and it took me a few days to get back into the swing of things at home. But here I am and I have joined a group of ladies, bloggers and non-bloggers, that are doing 30 days of untried polishes from our stashes. I am a day late getting started so I will be posting TWO NOTDs.

This first polish is OPI Take It For Granite. This gorgeous dark silver polish is a black label oldie. It was released in 1996 with the Rocky Mountain Collection along with the very coveted Jasper Jade. I found a few of these along with Gold Digger's Delight at a salon in my local mall. This is a very pretty color but like a lot of old OPI polishes the formula has changed and become a little harder to work with. In my experience OPI polishes either get gloopy and crusty or they get runny and turn tacky really quickly. This polish was very runny and became tacky so quickly that it was hard to get an even layer on the nail. It is a very pretty polish though and if I can work around the formula dis-function I will probably use it more often.

This next polish is also an older black label OPI polish. This one is Midnight Blue Glitter. It isn't as old as Take It For Granite. This polish came out in 2004 in the Tuxedo Collection. I found this recently when I was driving through Kentucky on my way home from Tennessee. This polish is very sheer and needs at least 3 coats in my opinion. I have seen that this polish is described as a smokey grey color but to me is has a brownish tint to it. Besides the color of the actual polish the real interesting part of this polish is the tons of tiny micro glitter in blue, purple, teal, silver, and black. The blue and purple stand out the most. I think I would like this polish more if the base were a tiny bit lighter and there was a bit more glitter. But I do actually like this polish quite a bit. It does take a long time to dry but I blame that on the age of the polish.

Which one do you guys and gals like more?

  1. Wow, I really really love both of those colors! Take It For Granite is gorgeous!

  2. Midnight Blue Glitter definitely! :)

  3. Take it For Granite is really pretty. Reminds me of OPI 2008 Toyland collection polish called Baby It's Coal Outside. Granite is maybe a tish lighter and of course that old formula comes through. I have many really old black label polishes because my now stash dates back to pre OPI days in the mid 80's. I only wish I had not purged so many through the yrs when my once ONE box of polishes was getting too full to hold them all!

  4. I like this one!! Where can I purchase a bottle??
